Debate Topic: "Mirror, mirror ..."

I think it's time to leave alone the issue of souls for a while and devote ourselves to talk about issues less complex.

So today we will discuss on a theme derived from Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. No doubt already suspect because of the title of the post that will deal with the so-called Mirror of Erised. This magical object so named because "Erised" is the word "I" but reversed. The investment is named, of course, that the images are reflected in the mirrors reversed manner, so that designation was correct JK Rowling's ingenious.

What does this Mirror of Erised?

Albus Dumbledore tells us:

"[...] It shows neither more nor less than the deepest and most desperate desire of our hearts. You [Harry Potter], who never met your family, view surrounding you. Ronald Weasley, who has always been overcome by his brothers, he is alone, the best of them. However, this mirror will not give us knowledge or truth. Some men are consumed with this, fascinated by what they saw, or were insane, not knowing if what it shows is real or even possible. "

We now know that this is not an ordinary mirror that reflects reality. You can fool our eyes, but deception always come from our heart. Well, we all have deep longings unfulfilled, not wanting what we have is our human nature. Regarding this, Dumbledore assures us:

"The happiest man on earth can use the Mirror of Erised like a normal mirror, that is, they will look and see exactly how it is."

As I said, the essence of our human personality will always want more and more ... But sometimes there is a desire to excel dramatically in some people, so that would give anything, risk their physical or mental health to achieve or simply dedicate the course of his life in the pursuit of that desire.

All the above have been preliminary to reach the question of our discussion:

What would Lord Voldemort in front of the Mirror of Erised?

Or put another way:

What is the deepest, most desperate desire of his heart?

No doubt that Tom Marvolo Riddle pursued many objectives. The domination of Muggles, the supremacy of "pure blood," prevent "dirty blood" to use the magic ... But I had a wish that was very intimate and it was responsible only to him immortality. He longed to live forever ... She did not care how they lived, not worried about his soul fragment, had no qualms about killing to achieve their goal. He feared death, cease to exist.

And if immortality was his greatest desire, then finding himself in front of the Mirror of Erised would have to see yourself watching the years, decades, centuries, millennia ... I would see how to around the ages passed, the different ages of humanity's future . How different cities and civilizations arose and how it decayed and were lost in oblivion, to birth new human societies and cultures, how it happened the seasons, how the climate changed and altered the Earth's geography. He would see how everything around mutated and transformed, but him. Because their desire was to stay alive forever.

Those who have seen the film The Time Machine, Simon Wells and starring Guy Pearce, know what I mean by "see the ages pass," because the protagonist encased in his time machine, "observes how humanity ends we know for a cataclysm, and how new civilizations arise after millennia ...

But this is my opinion, you can have another point of view. I invite you to try to enter the mind of the Dark Lord, who met in the books, trying to figure out what was really his greatest desire and speculating on what would have been as magical mirror.

It is better to be cute ... if you believe that what I really wanted was a family, then I would argue that Tom is bald in the mirror and his eyes red, but wearing a sweater with a big "R" on his chest hand-woven by Ms. Riddle.

They may support the theory that most pleases them or argue their own. You decide.
