This blog's team wishes a very happy holidays to all fans of Harry Potter. Merry Christmas!

Video: Scaffolding removed from Hogwarts castle at Harry Potter theme park

Fox Orlando have released a new aerial video earlier today showing Hogwarts castle, built for the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Noted in the new footage is that all scaffolding has been removed from the castle - which will host the still-mysterious Forbidden Journey ride - thus we can assume most work on the exterior construction has been completed. It can be viewed below.

Although most have been confirmed, newly noted cast are Miranda Richardson as Rita Skeeter, Maggie Smith as Minerva McGonagall, and Ciarán Hinds finally confirmed as Aberforth Dumbledore.

Half-Blood Prince BD-Live Toronto screening

Earlier today, a screening for the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince BD-Live community chat with Daniel Radcliffe and producer David Barron, hosted by TVOKids' The Space head Mark Sykes, took place in Toronto, Canada. SnitchSeeker member SanaBanana attended the screening on behalf of the site, and gave a brief synopsis of her experience there.

Quote:
My day started when I reached Manuel Life Centre – the centre where the screening was taking place. I asked inane questions until I finally reached my destination – the Cineplex Varsity Theatre. Right away, I was attended to by the hired illusionist. He made my head spin but entertained me until it was my turn with the green screen.

The full audio and breakdown of the chat can be heard and read here:

In the green screen activity, you were photographed only to be put into the Harry Potter poster with Michael Gambon and Daniel Radcliffe. Posing heroically, I imagined I really was on the cliff with two of my favourite characters.

After the green screen activity, came the waiting. While waiting to be seated, the people helping out with the event gave out authentic Harry Potter clocks and hats.

The actual virtual interaction with Dan and David was fantastic. Unfortunately, the audio was not working, so we were only able to read the text. Nonetheless, the questions and answers provided a fantastic insight into the minds of two brilliant men.
The BD-Live screening for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince has now begun. Producer David Barron (replacing director David Yates) and Daniel Radcliffe will be answering fan questions via audio-link during a screening of the sixth film. We will be updating this post throughout the screening with all the questions being asked of Dan and David, so keep refreshing for new information.

For those watching the BD-Live event, enjoy!

For those who cannot watch the viewing today, Warner Bros has announced that the BD-Live screening will be shown on BD-Live's site in a few weeks. We will update with that as it is released.

David Yates has come down with "a terrible bout of flu", which is why he could not make today's screening.

• Dan said that he and Harry are alike with their curiosity, love of friends, etc. He also states that Harry hasn't taken any of Dan's characteristics from playing the character, but has learned from the experience of making the series and meeting all sorts of people (from set).
• During the Slughorn home's scene, Dan and David voice how good of a scene it is in the fact that it introduces the world of magic.
• On David Yates' view on making the films: Dan said that Yates has the ability to see the entire film just from one still.
• Dan mentioned a rule he and Rupert shared, in that if they have a birthday and aren't on set for it, they won't receive a present.
• On Alan Rickman, David said he loved his eyebrows, while Dan loves his dry sense of humour.
• Dan loved Lupin and Lockhart as Defence Against the Dark Arts teachers and even noted that Kenneth Branagh gave him tutoring lessons on Twelfth Night.
• On Bellatrix: Dan thinks Bella is childlike and also evil; David said that you look in her eyes and she feels a little bit out of control. Dan stated that he's become a bit like Helena Bonham Carter's personal assistant on the set of Deathly Hallows, in that he's constantly picking up after her.
• Dan and David were gushing over the quality of the Half-Blood Prince Blu-ray (it was the first time Dan used it). Dan noted that Emma's image on Blu-ray is her only competition in terms of beauty.
• Tom Felton began filming Deathly Hallows at the end of the summer; he and Dan became good friends through Tom's girlfriend, Jade, who is one of Dan's best friends.
• On their favourite CGI sequences in the Harry Potter series: David said it was the sixth movie's Inferi and cave set. Dan said one of his favourite scenes to film was the dragon chase in Goblet of Fire.
• Dan was asked if he would consider joining Twitter, but he said no. However, he does like the idea of it and interacting with fans. He said that being able to convey a thought in 140 characters or less would be a challenge for him.
• Dan and David spoke about the tiles in Tom Riddle's orphanage, noting that they are similar to those used for the Ministry of Magic atrium.
• Choosing between Slughorn and Snape as a better Potions Master, they said that since Slughorn taught Snape, he would be better; Dan noted Harry's bias against Snape, and that he would prefer Slughorn more.
• Dan noted that while Slughorn and Ron are rather outgoing characters on-screen, Jim Broadbent and Rupert Grint, respectively, are shy off-screen.
• They both spoke about Hero Fiennes, who played young Tom Riddle in Half-Blood Prince, and as he is Ralph Fiennes nephew, he was "a young Voldemort in training."
• For the birds used in the Vanishing Cabinet Draco uses in the Room of Requirement in Half-Blood Prince, Dan said it took him a few readings to figure out its significance.
• On Quidditch and flying on a broom, Dan said that no matter what, whether flying over London or past dragons, the filming is exactly the same on the green-screen G-stage, and the pain is all the same. The pitch is just all CGI, so no signifigance there.
• On Deathly Hallows filming, Barron said that filming will end around late-spring early-summer, then there's the dubbing stage, and post-production. They will be doing work on it for another year, at least. There are plans for Leavesden after the movies are done.
• Butterbeer tastes like J-20 with froth on it, according to Dan. They both mention that real Butterbeer will be sold at the Harry Potter theme park next year (Barron said it tasted very nice).
• Dan said that he does have a say in Harry's costuming, in that his clothes should "look good, but look forgettable," given his origins. As the movies go on, the kids are seen less and less in their Hogwarts robes.
• Dan said that his stage work in Equus has made him more confident as an actor, both on stage and screen, especially given how exposed he was in front of thousands of people live.
• On a future in directing, Dan said it'd be a long way away and that he still has a great deal to learn before considering helming a project.
• On wearing Muggle clothes in the series, as they got older, it paralleled to the fact that Muggle students around 16-17 in schools wear regular clothes and not uniforms. Plus, it shows them as more adult-like, according to Dan.
• David Barron said he considered cutting the egg shot Ron has to look at before his Quidditch match, thinking it didn't play. Yates took it out once, realised it didn't work, and then put it back in. For the Great Hall scene, Dan noted he loved the colours in the scenes (the Gryffindor robes), and Luna blinking lion's hat. They give love to Evanna because of her artistic merit and what she brings to the character.
• On Ron and Lavender's kiss, Dan said he lost all professionalism that day and teased and joked with Rupert all day. He said that Matthew Lewis teased him on the Order of the Phoenix set about Harry and Cho's kiss, so it was time for revenge.
• Dan lists Rupert's cars: bright-orange Range Rover; ice cream van that was recently repaired and does actually make ice cream; he used to have a mini-cooper with Knight Rider designs; a Chevy pick-up truck that never works (which he brings onto the set to show off); and a hovercraft. He said that Rupert wouldn't be the kind of person to show off what he bought, and would just mention it in passing. David also got night-goggles for Rupert so he can ride on his hovercraft in the dark.
• Dan and David's favourite Weasley is Ron, though they are fond of the entire lot.
• On British actors they couldn't get into the films and wanted to, they list: Judi Dench, Helen Mirren, Daniel Craig, Juliet Stevenson, Ricky Gervais.
• They said that the Burrow set is "cramped and crooked."
• Dan said that the easiest scenes to film are action sequences, because he can throw himself into it. During the Burrow scene when Harry sees the fire and runs after Bellatrix, Dan noted that it was "terrible parenting," and wondered why the adults didn't stop Harry or Ginny from running off.
• Dan and David confirmed that the five actors - Dan Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Bonnie Wright, Emma Watson, and Tom Felton - will play their adult selves in the epilogue.
• The pair said that their favourite villain in the series is Voldemort, of course, the embodiment of evil.
• Dan mentioned that when he found out Richard Harris, the original actor who played Albus Dumbeldore, died, he just cried and cried. He also remembered having rather enjoyed filming the scenes with Fawkes in Dumbledore's office from Chamber of Secrets, because it kept speaking back to him.
• Dan's favourite set is the Ministry of Magic atrium; David's is the Gryffindor common room for its warmth and detail.
• Between Colin Creevey and Lavender Brown on who would be more annoying, Dan and David said that Colin's sweet, but Lavender's a bit irritating.
• On Harry using Felix Felicis, Dan said he was over-acting a bit, and that Harry was using a different bit of logic there.
• Dan on the Sectumsempra scene was like he and Tom "playing cowboys and Indians."
• Dan said that he's broken about seven wands on set; Devon Murray about eight; but David Thewlis holds the record at about 12.
• Dan said he'd be put into Hufflepuff ("nice, but clueless"), but really they'd like to be in Gryffindor, since they know it the best.
• David's favourite plant are the mandrakes; Dan's is the Devil's Snare, which he found cool, but not something to get caught in.
• David pointed out that if Hagrid hadn't been a lonely outsider like Harry, he wouldn't have befriended Aragog, and from that slippery slope, he would not have attended the funeral, and not have gotten the memory from Slughorn (therefore never knowing the true reason behind Voldemort's immortality).
• Of the memories he'd like to keep, Dan said he'd choose his first days of school. Plus, Dan said that all the things he could recall, he already remembered, so he wouldn't have to keep them.
• Dan said that he was the one who told Gary Oldman that Sirius died on the set of Prisoner of Azkaban in 2003. When Harry mourned Dumbledore's body at the end of Half-Blood Prince, Dan said that Michael kept pulling faces to distract him.
• On why Harry looks sad all the time: David said that Harry's mostly serious, not sad, and is surrounded by some happiness; Dan notes that with all he's been through, he's got reason to be sad.
• Compared to the month he spent filming the Second Task underwater for Goblet of Fire, Dan was only underwater for a few days for the Half-Blood Prince cave sequences. As for the liquid Dumbledore drinks in the cave, it is a milky-water (and the froth from Rupert's mouth when Ron is being poisoned is actually egg white).
• On learning to cry on screen, Kenneth Branagh (Lockhart) said that he could use a tear-stick (an eye irritant) to make it look like you're crying (around his eyes), rather than really getting into the mood.
• Comparing Harry's reactions to Sirius and Dumbledore, David and Dan said that with Dumbledore, Harry was a bystander and could not scream out in agony the way he had with Sirius's death. With Sirius's death, Harry was in the midst of the fight, so his reaction was quite different.
• Dan mentioned that Michael Gambon had not yet begun filming scenes for Deathly Hallows (and was admonished by David for letting that information slip).
• David and Dan were notified about the Academy Awards' Best Film category being extended to 10 nominees, and if Half-Blood Prince could get a nod. Neither were terribly sure about it, but weren't holding their breath on getting the recognition, either. They would be honoured, but it's not something they automatically expect.
• Dumbledore's funeral will NOT be in Deathly Hallows, even if it wasn't in Half-Blood Prince. It was discussed among producers David Barron and David Heyman and screenwriter Steve Kloves, but they felt it was just too many endings for the film. They tried hard to keep it in, but felt the balance was wrong, according to Barron.
• On Tom Felton's hair dyeing, Dan said that it gets done "more often than he likes." Tom gets a bit more recognition that he likes as a result of it (as does Rupert), but they try to dye it as infrequently as possible.
• When dealing with bad press and rumours, Dan says that he keeps a sense of humour and good head about it, as well as having good people around him.
• Dan says that he'll miss the friends he's made on set and working with the crew in the series after it's done, and hopes to work with them after Harry Potter is over.

That's all for the BD-Live event! Thanks for listening and reading along with us!

UPDATE: Thanks very much to Lauren from DanRadcliffe.com for the full two-and-a-half-hour audio of the BD Live chat with Dan and David, which can be downloaded here (mirror here).

Final battle sequences are currently being filmed at Leavesden Studios.

Fiona Shaw to reprise Petunia Dursley role in Deathly Hallows

Actress Fiona Shaw, best known to fans as playing Harry's Muggle Aunt Petunia in the Harry Potter series, was recently profiled by Times Online. Fiona spoke about her acting career, as well as the rest of the productions she's participated in, including Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, where she will play Petunia Dursley for the final time. She comments briefly on her time at Leavesden Studios on and off for the past ten years.

Quote:
"Harry Melling, the young man who plays my son in Mother Courage, plays my son in Potter (they are Petunia and Dudley Dursley respectively), and we’re the poor relations. We never do any magic, we have it done to us. The odd thing is leaving the set and to see 3,000 people march on: 1,000 children, 1,000 parents and 1,000 minders. Alan Rickman and Maggie Smith sit there for hours waiting for them to file in."
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will be released on November 19, 2010 and July 15, 2011.

Video: Making of LEGO Harry Potter Years 1-4 video game + new photos

A new video on the making of the LEGO Harry Potter Years 1-4 video game has been released, where one of the main designers explains the level of broomstick skills each character has. He notes that Harry, being a great Seeker, would be highly skilled on a broom, while Ron is rather mediocre and Hermione dismal. The video can be seen below.

The official site for the game, Magic is Building, also released new images from the game, including McGonagall's Transfigured chess set from Sorcerer's Stone (where Ron's sits atop a Knight's horse), the Whomping Willow taking a whack at Draco Malfoy in front of Harry, Dumbledore, and Snape, and Hagrid leading into a walled entrance.

Rupert Grint considering British Olympic ski-jumper biopic (UPDATE)

The Sunday Mirror is reporting that Rupert Grint's first potential project after the end of the Harry Potter series may be a biopic about Olympic jump-skier Eddie "The Eagle" Edwards. The short article can be read here:

Quote:
Harry Potter star Rupert Grint is to play ski-jump legend Eddie "The Eagle" Edwards in a movie.

Rupert, 21, is best known for playing cheeky Ron Weasley. Now he has taken Steve Coogan's place in the film, which tells the story of how plasterer Eddie found fame at the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary. Eddie represented Great Britain in the 70-metre and 90-metre ski jumps... and came last in both.

The geeky red-headed skier was criticised by professional skiers for making a mockery of the sport.

But he became a star around the world and even came ninth in a speed skiing event.
We are currently seeking further information from Rupert's representatives about the project and will update as soon as we receive it.

UPDATE: Rupert's representatives have confirmed to us that he has received the script for this project but he is not currently attached to the production.

Great actors for the Battle of Hogwarts

We all know that the Harry Potter movies have been joined by many great British actors, many of which are considered teachers of acting. Imagine all acting together, embodied in a series of scenes. Add it to these scenes belong to the Battle of Hogwarts, full of action, suspense, anguish ...

Today Chris Rankin (Percy Weasley) has returned to update his Twitter to make known to fans:

At the hotel, excited by the films of tomorrow, but not excited about getting up early at 5 am ... 43 main cast members on set tomorrow!

43 of the principal actors in the various films will be meeting tomorrow to film scenes from the Battle of Hogwarts. With these ingredients it is unlikely that someone will be disappointed with the battle at the castle, we dont know exactly who will be running these scenes, but we can guess that will be all the actors whose roles are related to Hogwarts (students, teachers ...) and Death Eaters and other characters.

There is no doubt that David Yates wants to finish the Harry Potter saga in style, and draw on all the main cast to create an unforgettable final. We will enjoy this final Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part II, which will be in cinemas on 15 July 2011.

What about you, how would you like the Battle of Hogwarts on the big screen?

Warwick Davis explains Flitwick's different looks in Harry Potter films

From a question sent to him via Twitter, actor Warwick Davis explained why his character, Professor Flitwick, changed appearance from Chamber of Secrets to Prisoner of Azkaban and beyond.

Quote:
"Could you possibly give us an insight as to why Flitwick's look was changed for the third HP movie?"
So many of you have asked me the 'New look Flitwick' question, so I will answer it here, once and for all. When it came time to shoot 'Azkaban', there was no mention of 'Flitwick'' in the script. However, the producer still wanted me to be in the movie, so he asked if I would play the role of 'Choir Master'. Of course, I said 'yes'. When it came time to shoot 'Goblet of Fire', the director, Michael Newell said he liked the look of the choir master, and from that moment, the character became known as 'Flitwick'.

Dan Radcliffe to star in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying?

It has been announced that Daniel Radcliffe's first acting venture after the end of the Harry Potter series next year may be a revival of the 1961 musical How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying on Broadway, reports Variety.

Quote:
Daniel Radcliffe will head the cast of an upcoming New York reading of 1961 tuner "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying," marking the first musical turn for the "Harry Potter" star.

Producers Broadway Across America, Craig Zadan and Neil Meron are test driving the project for a potential Rialto revival.
Dan is the only actor so far to be cast in the musical:

Quote:
While producers could not be reached for confirmation, the reading is scheduled for December, with no other cast so far in place. Sources said plans for the production will be worked out based on the success of the reading.
A summary of the musical can be read below:

Quote:
"How to Succeed" chronicles the rise of a crafty window cleaner as he follows the advice of a self-help manual to connive his way up through the ranks of the World Wide Wickets Co. and get the girl in the process.
More on the plot can be read here.

We will have much more on this, including when Dan will begin rehearsals and when the production itself will start in New York (assuming the read-through is successful and the musical will be produced), so stay tuned.

UPDATE: We have spoken to Dan's publicist, who has stated that Dan is currently looking through a few potential projects, including this musical. However, nothing has been confirmed, in terms of commitments to anything. More news to come soon.

Robbie Coltrane talks end of Harry Potter films & costars

While he promoted his upcoming made-for-television film Murderland (airing on STV, 9pm, October 19), actor Robbie Coltrane spoke about how the end of the Harry Potter series might affect not only him in a negative way, but his young co-stars, as well.

I regret the ending of Harry Potter for the obvious reasons of saying goodbye to a bunch of people with whom I've become very friendly over the years, but also because I will be giving up a regular income. You don't get too much of that in the world of acting."

As for the acting futures of his co-stars, including Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson, Robbie said:

Quote:
"For them the conclusion of the films will be like leaving school, saying goodbye to friends and going out into the big, wide world.

"It's a huge step and it wouldn't be surprising if some of them, at least, felt nervous about making it."
Robbie will be featured as Hagrid in the final installments of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, to be released November 19, 2010 and July 15, 2011.

Happy Birthday, Dawn French!

Today - October 11th - Dawn French, the actress who played the Fat Lady in the Gryffindor House painting in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, celebrates her 52nd birthday!

Dawn French is not an internationally recognized actress, but in Britain is a model for many, many, and an elevation in comedy. I lengthened too if it began to number his roles in television, but has worked as a comic actress for over twenty years. He has also participated in numerous plays and films as David Copperfield (which worked with Daniel Radcliffe), The Chronicles of Narnia I and Coraline.

However, it has been nominated for six BAFTA awards (the most prestigious in Britain) as best comic actress, winning this year's BAFTA Academy Fellowship along with his partner Jennifer Saunders, "in recognition of achievements in the film world ", being considered the most prestigious BAFTA award granted to the individual level.

But that's not all! A Dawn offered HE Order of British Empire (OBE) in 2001, a recognition given by the King of England from 1917 merit for the United Kingdom, which declined by own ideologies.

Dawn is also known for her great figure and its efforts to promote the idea that a woman "big" can be beautiful. As a result, she has her own line of plus size clothing. In a 2006 survey of 4,000 people, Dawn French was named the most admired female celebrity women in Britain.

It is clear that Harry Potter has met its elected the best British actors of today, but not only in major roles. Dawn French is an example of a great actress who can play small roles in big productions. Congratulations again, Dawn!

Harry Melling padded out for role as Dudley Dursley in Deathly Hallows

In an interview with the Telegraph Harry Melling, who plays Dudley Dursley in the Harry Potter films, confirms he has begun work on Deathly Hallows and adds that he has even had to wear padding since losing weight. A new photo of the actor, which accompanies the article, may be seen here;

Quote:
Dudley doesn't feature in the sixth Potter film, so there was a long gap between playing the butterball bully in the fifth, aged 16, and shooting the seventh film, this year. In the meantime, he had changed almost beyond recognition, to the producers' alarm. "They did this double-take, 'Oh my God, we are going to have to do something,' and I felt very guilty. They could have recast, but instead they padded me out."
Harry also talks about how he first got the part of Dudley and how that changed his life;

Quote:
This focus on his career is, no doubt, the result of coming from a family riddled with actors. His grandfather, Patrick Troughton, was, for many, the greatest Dr Who. His uncles, Michael and David Troughton, and his cousin Sam, are all actors. His illustrator mother, Joanna Troughton, was keen to give Harry a chance, too. "She sent off my photos to the producers of the Potter films when I was 10, thinking I might be an extra. A year later I was asked to read for Dudley. When I got the part, I thought: 'Ooh, I'm in a film', not that I was cast as fat and ugly.'"

Wasn't being associated with the hateful Dudley a curse? "I kept quiet about it. Nobody ever recognised me."
He also discusses working on set with his on-screen parents, Fiona Shaw and Richard Griffiths;

Quote:
He minded more about not being one of the Hogwarts' children. When people asked him about the films, and what Michael Gambon or Julie Walters were like, he would have to say, "Dunno, I've never met them." But, stuck in Privet Drive, he did get to work with Richard Griffiths and Fiona Shaw, who play Uncle Vernon and Aunt Petunia, Dudley's parents. "Just watching them was an education. Fiona taught me a Caliban speech, which I later used to get into drama school."
Harry finishes by confirming that he wants to continue acting;

Quote:
Compared to Daniel Radcliffe, whom he once envied, Melling now realises that he was lucky not to be one of the Hogwarts' leads. His career got off to an early start, but without the irksome trappings of fame, or the danger of being typecast. "I can now shed the child-actor thing, like the fat, and start a new career, because no one sees me as Dudley."

Ralph Fiennes begins work on Deathly Hallows

Actor Tom Felton, who returned to filming Deathly Hallows earlier this week, updated his Twitter with the following:

Quote:
had a great day at work! learning from the best, its an honour to work with Ralph Fiennes, he's so professional and talented
Filming for both parts, Deathly Hallows I and II, is currently underway. It is unknown which specific scenes are being shot this week.

Tom also discussed his first day back filming from the several-week-long hiatus, noting that he had been doing a bit of harness-related stunt work (something he had been doing back in August, as well).

Quote:
still shooting! been up since 530am.... and still got a bit of a stunt shot left to do....wish me luck...my energy is starting to go!
Quote:
yes a harness..me and the harness have become friends now

Evanna Lynch spoke about how she tried out for a role in the Harry Potter films

While thanking fans for well wishes and birthday gifts, Evanna Lynch spoke about how she tried out for a role in the Harry Potter films well before receiving the part of Luna Lovegood in Order of the Phoenix, and what it had inspired in her.

Quote:
I'd like to remind you all of this fact because I'm sure many of you have or have had the same dream and have encountered all the apparent obstacles. People like to hype it up and make it sound impossible, unattainable, too good for you...

Just the other day I was trying to clean out my desk (anything other than study, exactly!) and I came across the letter that I received from the HP casting dept. It was a reply to a tape I sent long before the open audition, long before the release of Goblet of Fire even, on my own initiative. They did reply and kindly told me that there were no openings on the film at the minute and that also nationality played a big role in casting.

Plainly put, it looked like the cards were against me and I'm sure I felt that way at the time. I'm not saying this to big myself up (cos I know they use this on press releases etc. etc.), I mean to remind you how fine the line is between reaching a goal and not. I wasn't an actress with connections or anything particularly distinguishing. This is why I hate the probability chapter in my maths book.

Manifestation doesn't take into account how many chances you have. If it happens it happens and it didn't matter what anyone else told you. Sorry to annoy any mathematicians out there but I don't believe in probability!

So strip away all the hype, because anything anyone tells you is just...chat, and it's really up to you and you'll get nowhere if you don't at least believe you deserve everything you dream about.

Harry Potter and the deadthly hallows

Barack Obama mentions Harry Potter and J.K. Rowling New Address
In a speech in order to be shared with several small pre-school children in the United States, President Brack Obama quote Harry Potter series as an example of passing of our beloved author JK Rowling before publishing his first book, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.

President Obama mention the world basketball star, Michael Jordan, who was denied access to his college team on several occasions and of course JK quote Rowling saying that the first book in the series, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone was rejected 12 times before being finally published in 1997.

Remember that this is not the first time that Barack Obama mentions the series because, as most already know, Bush declared that he has read every book of the series and was declared a big fan of it like their daughters and his wife, who in recent months visited Leavesden Studios in England where they shared with the cast of the series and with the writer. The president's speech is to inspire young students to never desist in their dreams and continue fighting until the end, as is clear example our writer and even Harry Potter himself in the fight against Lord Voldemort.

Undoubtedly, the saga of Harry Potter is full of many values and a unique and inspiring story. And I take the post to ask you two simple questions to all our dear readers: what cause or reason for love and follow every day the development of this saga? "Captive you Harry Potter? See you in the comments, I expect great arguments.

Thanks

Hogwarts in 'A brief guide to imaginary places'

For those who did not know, I'm a bibliophile and love to be. This summer I spent much time at Casa del Libro (and in bookstores and more specialized in rare and antique books) and bought around 30-40 books. Among them I found one that caught my attention. The book is entitled A brief guide to imaginary places and belongs to the editorial Alliance (in my opinion, one of the best publishers of books in Spanish).

In the back of the book, states that include parts of the world of JK Rowling. Originally, the book did not include them (as is 1980), but the book I bought is an expanded edition in 2000. In this book, the only place in the magical world of Harry Potter's Hogwarts is included, and data is extracted only from Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.

It is noteworthy that those who are interested in buying this book just for Harry Potter, they should not because it does not bring much information about the magical world created by JK Rowling. But for those who like fantasy, science fiction, magical realism and other trends in this style, the book is commendable and there is not only magical places belonging to English literature but also literature in other languages (eg Macondo is included).

'The Half-Blood Prince' continues to struggle to beat 'The Order of the Phoenix'

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince continues to raise money in the world but has yet to beat Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Now, it has been reported that the sixth Harry Potter film has grossed $ 916.4 million dollars worldwide, nearly $ 12 million more than last week. Similarly, still needs to raise $ 23 million to become the second highest grossing movie of the saga.

Also, it has been reported that Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince has reached the 50 million pounds in the UK, which had not happened in the series since Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.

At this point, there is still some possibility that surpass the Order of the Phoenix, but it is almost impossible to exceed the Sorcerer's Stone. Similarly, the sixth movie was another box-office records and was well received by the public and much of the fandom.

Thanks SD!

Update: I take to report, as I said on Twitter, we know that have appeared in Internet photos of an actress from the Harry Potter enjoy their new life in another country, but this blog respects the privacy of the actors, actresses, producers, directors and writer, so we wont publish it.

Tom Felton: Photographs at Dragon Next Upcoming Events Theme Park

The talented actor Tom Felton, who plays Draco Malfoy majestically in the Harry Potter films, recently attended the Dragon * Con 2009 which took place in the city of Atlanta in Georgia, USA. In the aforementioned event, the actor had the opportunity to share with many fans of the Harry Potter and even made a sort of round table discussion touched on several points of discussion related to the saga.

Tom says his favorite scene from The Half-Blood Prince was when he had hit Harry on the Hogwarts Express, also said it is a disadvantage playing Draco Malfoy in the films because, when the children visit the set, tend to feel afraid to see it but says it means he is doing his job very well. Like most actors in the series, Tom is also very sad for the completion of filming of the Harry Potter and says he is fully convinced that the action is your thing and that is why we will focus on this race the rest of his artistic life, and I think it's a good decision because this kid has a talent. After great conversation pottérica, fans and Tom enjoyed a large cake. Here you can enjoy the photos:

Discussion Topic: Are there two Chosen ones?
Posted By: Aura Zephyr in Debates, Harry Potter, Lord Voldemort, Neville Longbottom, Opinion

When I finished reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, I had a certainty: there was never elected one. I know that many find strange my point, since one of the names by which knows Harry is the Chosen One. True, Harry was the "chosen" of Lord Voldemort, of prophecy but there are always two options "interchangeable". And in this is one of the errors of the Dark Lord and why he was defeated. Of course I am referring to the existence of Neville Longbottom in history.

Before you throw me over with their counter-arguments, let me explain.

The prophecies are always misleading, ambiguous, subject to various interpretations. Nobody really knows where they came from or who inspired them. One of the knowledge you have about prophecies is that it only has real understanding of where the facts they relate have already been fulfilled. That is why we try to be guided by a prophecy is useless or, in the worst-very dangerous.

Recall the prophecy of Sybill Trelawney, who met in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix:

"The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord approaches ... Born to those who challenged him thrice the world by the seventh month dies ... And the Dark Lord will mark him as his equal, but he will have power the Dark Lord knows not ... And one of the two must die at the hands of the other for neither can live while the other still alive ... The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord will be born at the end the seventh month ... "

It is true, speaks of "the only ..." But Dumbledore tells us that there were two children magicians who met the conditions of the prophecy, Neville and Harry. I will say that J.K. Rowling later said that Neville was born on July 30 and Harry 31, so it is logical that the prophecy was referring to Harry because he was born on the last day of July. I agree that's a good argument, but really who had the final decision was Voldemort. He would be who would choose the child and "it would mark as his equal." Harry Potter becomes "The One" by the decision of Lord Voldemort to attack him, not because the prophecy dictates.

What I think is that either child could have been the Chosen One.
And I rely on multiple arguments, not only in that both have similar features, but the similarity of the situations and decisions taken by the boys throughout the saga.

The similarities between the two youngsters are clear and known to us all. Both were children whose parents belonged to the Order of the Phoenix. They "lost" their parents when they were babies (the Harry were killed and Neville were hurt to lose your sanity), so both home grown and orphaned relatives. Is not it strange that Neville also lost their parents, even though Voldemort did not attack him? Not me, I am convinced that their fate was to go the same way Harry.

It is true that Harry was much more "certain" that Neville, who was always more clumsy and forgetful. But in a way, Neville had never had a need to develop their personality, as Harry had to do it very early. No doubt Neville grew more protected than Harry. But when it comes time to confront those who made him sick to his parents, no longer the shy boy who was and is evident the strong personality and unwavering principles he holds (remember her performance in HP5).

Now I get to my best and dearest argument: the similarity of the paths traveled both in the saga. And attitudes that were against Lord Voldemort (and even the behavior that he had for them). It is here that the book first and the seventh book come together in a strange coincidence (I say "strange" because it seems that in reality would be something very unusual, and it is therefore clear that Rowling planned it that way because he thought a so much like mine).

In Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, Harry finally comes face to face with Lord Voldemort. There, in front of the Mirror of Erised, what's the first thing the Dark Lord? It offers to join him. Harry How do you respond? Never!

In Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, when the castle gates, Lord Voldemort is for the first time in the series against Neville ... what's the first thing you propose? To join them, and is covierta one of his Death Eaters. And what Neville repond? I will join you the day that hell freezes over!

In Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, a "spectral" Tom Riddle Jr. treats Harry with obvious interest and contempt at once, yet does not kill directly but tells the basilisk to do so. It Fawkes, the phoenix, who provides the Potter Sorting Hat, which takes-after putting it on the head of Gryffindor's sword and kills the king of serpents.

In The Deathly Hallows, the Dark Lord show your appreciation for the qualities of Neville and when he refused to be your ally, not incurring the immediate act of killing an Avada Kedavra, but inexplicably he who brings the Sorting Hat and placed on the head to set fire Longbottom below. But then Neville drew his sword and beheads the hat of Lord Voldemort's snake.

Is not that an interesting and obvious coincidence that both boys have been killed snakes Heir of Slytherin? I think J.K. Rowling wrote the scene between Neville and Voldemort having an idea in mind. Harry said that not only was dangerous to Voldemort. Neville might have had the same role if the Dark Lord Harry had attacked him as a baby. The only advantage he had Harry to face Voldemort was his ability to get inside the mind of his enemy, to see and feel what they saw and felt Voldemort. The capacity to love, strong principles and unwavering will to confront the dark magic, were qualities that Neville had.

For those who still believe that there is no logic to my point, to think that Rowling never intended to propose this, I ask you to think in various situations of the series in which Neville appears. I will name some I remember:

- In The Order of the Phoenix, Neville is the only partner who is fighting to end with Harry in the Department of Mysteries. The only one apart from Harry took the field with the prophecy in their hands and even the presence when it breaks (though I can not hear it). Even earlier, in the Hall of Prophecy, when Harry attempts to take the field, there is a curious reaction from the boys:

"" I think you should not touch it, "said Hermione Harry saw Harry stretched his arm.

- Why not? "He replied. It has something to do with me, right?

"Do not do, Harry," Neville said suddenly. Harry looked at him. The round face of his comrade was covered in sweat. It seemed that I could not hold more suspense.

"Take my name," insisted Harry.

And with the vague feeling that he was committing an indiscretion, put his hands around the dusty crystal ball. [...]"

In this excerpt, Rowling seems to indicate that both Harry and Neville were attracted by the prophecy and Harry was even more "reckless" or felt more compelled to take it (as it bore his name), completely ignores the warning of Hermione, but There is "something" that makes him stop when Neville asks. I think this is a sign that both young Rowling tied to the prophecy.

- Half-Blood Prince, Neville fighting the Death Eaters to enter Hogwarts, is wounded to pursue and launched with great courage against the barrier with which they block access to the Astronomy Tower. It encounters with him that Harry got out of the tower and who said he escaped where Snape and Draco, and urges him to follow.

- In The Deathly Hallows is the more we understand the true role that Neville has in history. When Harry is not, it is Neville who faces the Dark Lord's reign. He becomes the leader of the opposition at Hogwarts. In the symbol of unyielding beings who fight against evil. It is no accident or whim that the author has written the scene of Neville stood up to Lord Voldemort. Neville Why? Why among all those afflicted by the "death" of Harry, was Neville who still faces the Dark Lord? Why not Ron or Hermione, or maybe Ginny, who could have been driven to avenge the death of her beloved Harry? No, it had to be Neville Longbottom. Granted, he was not the Chosen of Voldemort, but was "elected" to Harry. When he goes to meet death ... leaves in the hands of Neville on completing their mission. This is the moment when Harry realizes that Neville is equal to him, not to capitulate or give truce in the fight against darkness.

In summary, I believe that Rowling gave us many hints and signs, to which it so assiduously, to make us understand why Harry and Neville were so similar and charged with the same mission. Lord Voldemort's mistake was forgetting to Neville, that one other child who "might" be dangerous for him and that "might" be able to defeat him. The prophecy always played against the Dark Lord, and although it was "certain" as to what happened with Harry, totally deceived him with regard to Neville. The mere existence of "the Boy Who Lived" made completely forget the existence of that other child.

The prophecy fell to Lord Voldemort "to believe in it-to choose a single child. But the power behind the prophecy chose two. That power, the real enemy of Voldemort, played to win with a bluff, made his bet and won.

Now I invite you to discuss my theory. I know that I have written enough to write this article (an essay, actually), but I hope you find interesting and inspiring.

Never before seen picture of Chris Columbus, Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint:

Some time ago I saw a photograph of the first time that actors Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint met. Now, eBay is selling a previously unseen photograph of director Chris Columbus with some young Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint. No doubt a very tender picture leads us to the days when we waited for the release of the first Harry Potter movie.

Compare that picture with that of Dan, Rupert and Emma in the filming of Deathly Hallows. Does it show much change from child to young adult? See you in the comments.

Thank you!

"JK Rowling works on the Harry Potter encyclopedia"

And today we woke up with great news yesterday as the celebrated author Ian Rankin, a close friend of our beloved author JK Rowling revealed on the agenda of the BBC Radio Five Live Simon Mayo, the last time you saw and shared with Jo, she was working hard in the Encyclopedia Pottérica, apart from that, Ian said that it was when the writer elaborated the family trees of different families. Significantly, Ian also said he has some time without seeing Joanne and that is why it was not known whether Encyclopedia being developed by mere pastime and amusement of the writer or went beyond it.

This information provided by the aforementioned author certainly makes us more happy one because at least we have evidence that Jo is writing the Encyclopedia Pottérica or maybe "already finished? ... Are we just a few months of the publication of this "delicacy pottérico" which will tell us information never revealed in the 7 books of the saga? Recall that in the trial against RDR Books, the writer said that his encyclopedia would be published between 2010 and 2011.

Thanks,!
